Let Us Rise Up and Build

Byron-McGeeBeloved,

Sunday, October 2, 2016 Cornerstone Baptist Church will celebrate our 12th year anniversary. To say God has blessed us in the past twelve years is an understatement.

Nehemiah 2:18 says, “And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me.  And they said, ‘let us rise up and build’.  So they strengthened their hands for the work.”

When we went through the Book of Nehemiah the phrase we adopted at that time was, “God’s gracious hand is upon us.”  That has been so true in the life of this church.

As Nehemiah spoke to the people of Israel to help rebuild the wall, so do I speak to Cornerstone Baptist Church for us to renew our commitment and to be the church the Lord has called us to be; focusing on sound doctrine and good works.  Seeking to be sound in our teaching and preaching as well as intentional in our gospel outreach, we are desiring to see souls saved, members discipled and growing in Christ. Ultimately our mission as a church is to see lives changed to the glory of God.

Nehemiah knew God’s hand was upon him for good and so should we.  The response of the people, they said, “Let us rise up and build”, and they strengthened their hands for the good work. Christ is our cornerstone and we want to be the cornerstone in the lives of those who choose to make this their place of worship.

God help us to rise and build for His glory!

Faithfully submitted,

Pastor Byron W. McGee
